The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses ten departments, covering a wide range of undergraduate specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English Literature and Linguistics, Arabic Language, Mass Communication, History, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, International Affairs, Policy, Planning and Development, Statistics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, and Environmental Sciences. The College also houses Master Programs, which are M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, M.A. in Gulf Studies, M.A. in Arabic Language and Literature, M.Sc. in Materials Science and Technology, and M.Sc. in Applied Statistics. In addition to a PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences and a PhD in Gulf Studies. Additionally, the College offers a Program of Arabic for Non- Native Speakers. Also, there are two established research centers namely the Center for Sustainable Development and the Gulf Studies Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth mentioning that as members of Qatar University, CAS faculty members have excellent opportunities to secure internal and external funding for their research ideas. Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) is major source of research funding, with individual project funding limit up to 1 million project (5 million exceptional projects) along with student research funding programs. As the national and largest University in the country, Qatar University is the recipient of most of QRDI awards, with many research- active faculty members able to win multiple grants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duties & Responsibilities<\/span><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Department of English Literature and Linguistics invites applications for a full-time faculty position in linguistics at the level of Assistant or Associate\u00a0 professor. We are seeking someone with a primary specialization in Language Acquisition. Candidates with research publications using experimental methods will have an advantage. Evidence of research on Arabic and other languages spoken in Qatar is also an asset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional responsibilities include contributing to the university core curriculum; supervising graduation projects; contributing to various committees at the Department, College, and University levels; contributing to the research profile of the College through innovative and interdisciplinary research publications; being an active member in the department, college, and university communities; and other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Department of English Literature and Linguistics is committed to familiarizing students with both the theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics and to building an inclusive intellectual community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience and effectiveness in the following categories: teaching introductory courses in linguistics, use of technology in teaching and research; academic advising and program development; innovative scholarship and professional activities; and effective institutional and\/or community service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifications<\/span><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. PhD in Linguistics from a reputable and recognized institution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Publications in international refereed journals in the field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. A minimum of 3 years\u2019 experience teaching at undergraduate and or postgraduate levels, following the PhD Degree.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
